General Objectives:

  1. Promote the interest of its members in the southeast
  2. Enlarge and ennoble its field of endeavor
  3. Facilitate the opening of new advertising sources
  4. Encourage and foster cooperation and fraternal fellowship among members
  5. Advance the highest and best interests of our readers, advertisers and subscribers.

Membership Dues and Assessments are set by the Association. Currently, the minimum annual dues are $100. Dues are payable initially at the time of filing application for membership and annually thereafter by the fiscal year (Jan. 1 - Dec. 31).

Copy of SAAPA by-laws will be provided to applicant after the board’s approval of application for membership.


CRITERIA FOR Membership with Full Voting Rights are:

  1. Newspapers must be issued weekly or more frequently.
  2. Be at least six (6) months old at time of application.
  3. Have some paid circulation.
  4. Three (3) consecutive issues of the newspaper must be submitted; date(s) to be identified by Membership Committee.
  5. A short biographical sketch of the principal officers and a recommendation from an active SAAPA member must accompany application.
  6. Copy of audit report should accompany application, or be submitted shortly thereafter (can be CPVS, ABC, Printers Statement, or any other audit report.
 
Class B-Associate Membership
(Associate Members have all SAAPA privileges except voting rights):

Professionals - newspapers and magazine reporters, photographers, public relations counselors, market developers and other related professions.

Institutional Public - Educational Institutions, college or university teachers and professionals -Not-for-Profit organizations.

Private and small business - non SAAPA publishers of newspapers and magazines (less than once a week circulation).

Private - Corporate Public Relations, marketing, etc.

Honorary - Retired publishers, editors, advertising, circulation or business managers and other distinguished persons who have made significant contribution to SAAPA as determined by the Board of Directors of SAAPA.
